# Asana Integration

Connect Asana to manage tasks, projects, and team workflows from your AVCodex agent.

Asana is connected as an MCP Pro Action rather than a standard integration, which means it uses OAuth and ships with a defined tool set rather than requiring per-endpoint configuration.

## Connect

1. Open your app in the builder and go to **Pro Actions**.
2. Find **Asana** and click **Connect**.
3. Complete the OAuth flow and authorize access.
4. Configure which tools the agent may call.

## What the agent can do

- List and search workspaces, projects, and tasks.
- Create tasks with assignees, due dates, and descriptions.
- Update task fields and mark tasks complete.
- Add comments to tasks.
- Read project structure and sections.

## Useful patterns for integrators

**Project handoff checklists.** An agent that knows your standard commissioning checklist can create the full task set on a new project in one conversation, correctly assigned and sequenced, instead of someone copying a template board by hand.

**Deficiency tracking during closeout.** Punch items captured in conversation become Asana tasks with the room, the trade responsible, and the due date, so closeout stops living in a spreadsheet.

**Cross-team visibility.** If design lives in Asana and service lives elsewhere, an agent that reads both can answer questions that neither system answers alone.

## Cautions

- **Assignee resolution.** Agents are inconsistent at mapping a spoken name to the right Asana user when several people share a first name. Give the agent the team roster in its knowledge base, or require email addresses.
- **Task sprawl.** An agent that creates a task on every request will bury your board. Put explicit criteria in the system prompt for what warrants a task.
- **Permissions follow the connecting user.** The agent inherits the access of whoever authorized the connection. Connect with an account whose scope matches what the agent should see, not a workspace admin account.
